Pharmacist's Assistant (Basic)
Start a career in pharmacy as the person pharmacists rely on to keep medicines safe, stocked and correctly prepared. This programme follows the registered QCTO curriculum for the Occupational Certificate: Pharmacist's Assistant (Basic) (SAQA 112811, NQF Level 4, 62 credits), the first step towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician, in three parts: knowledge, practical skills and work experience. You learn how the South African health system and the pharmacy profession work, medicines, schedules and the law, receiving, storing and distributing stock, supporting the manufacture of non-sterile medicines, compounding simple preparations under a pharmacist, housekeeping and computer skills, then apply them in a pharmacy under a pharmacist.
